- An undergraduate or graduate student in an approved health discipline
- Enrolled at least half time in a degree or certificate program (as determined by your school)
- Attending a TERI-eligible school (call (800) 255-TERI to confirm eligibility of school)
- A medical student entering a residency program
You must also meet the following credit guidelines:
If you are applying as a creditworthy borrower, you or a co-signer must:
- Have an employment history of at least two years (if self-employed, have been in business for at least two years);
- Have proof of current income;
- Have a satisfactory credit history of at least 21 months;
- Have resided at his or her current and immediately preceding addresses for a total of at least 12 months; and
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and has resided in the U.S. for the previous two years.
If you are applying as a creditready borrower, you must:
- Satisfy certain credit criteria, although an established credit history is not required; and
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who has had a stable residence in the U.S. for the past 2 years.
- Creditready borrowing only available for graduate, accelerated or residency.
Creditworthy vs. Creditready?
TERI loans to creditworthy applicants generally carry lower rates and fees than those made to creditready applicants. So, if you are creditworthy or can apply with a creditworthy co-signer, the cost of your loan might be lower.
International Students
International students must apply with a qualified co-signer. Please contact TERI's Customer Service at (800) 255-TERI for details on acceptable student visas and other required documentation.
